Our Collaborations

Public Service Announcement

In 2020, we co-developed this digitally illustrated video between youth, artists and public health scholar-practitioners to leverage the arts to share messages of hope over social media during the 1st year of the COVID-19 pandemic. The video was accompanied by a digital illustration campaign that shared practical tips for self-care, dating and safer sex. This work was presented at the 2021 National LGBTQ Health Conference.

Principios

In 2021, we began holding relationship and research strategy sessions between creative designers, community health practitioners, and academic researchers in order to prepare for future partnership, planning, and pilot awards in the area of Latine health disparities and health promotion. This work was presented at a forum of the Third Coast Center for AIDS Research, and the 2021 United States Conference on HIV/AIDS.

Pláticas

In 2022, we conducted a community listening tour wherein we visited with multiple Latine serving HIV community-based organizations to consult on current pilot research awards, as well as consider future directions for community-led research initiatives. This work was presented at the 2022 Biomedical HIV Prevention Summit.

PrEPárate

In 2022, we partnered to produce "PrEPárate," a health promotion campaign to promote PrEP among Queer Latine audiences in the Chicagoland area. This campaign was presented at the 2022 National LGBTQ Health Conference.

ALMA Creates

Across 2021-2022, the CQL Collaborators partnered with Association of Latina/os Motivating Action (ALMA) and Northwestern University to co-produce the ALMA "CREATES " art fellowship program for Queer Latine youth in the Chicagoland area.

Four youth were funded to create an art project that reflects a social issue they are passionate about, and to discuss its impacts on the Latine LGBTQ+ community.
